Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the MentorPlay mobile application ("Service").

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using MentorPlay, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of the terms, you may not access the Service.

2. Age Requirements

• Users Under 13: Guardian-managed profiles with parental consent required
• Users 13-17: Independent accounts with optional guardian oversight
• Users 18+: Full access to all features
• Mentors: Must be 18+ and currently enrolled in a D1 collegiate program

3. Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the security of your account credentials
• All activities that occur under your account
• Providing accurate and complete information
• Updating your profile information as needed
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use

4. Guardian Responsibilities

If you are a guardian managing a child's profile, you agree to:

• Provide accurate information about your child
• Review and approve all session bookings
• Monitor your child's app usage
• Maintain control of the guardian account
• Take responsibility for all bookings and charges

5. Mentor Verification

All mentors must:

• Verify their D1 collegiate status with a .edu email
• Complete background checks (where required)
• Maintain professional conduct during all sessions
• Provide accurate credentials and experience
• Comply with NCAA regulations regarding compensation

6. Booking and Payments

• Platform Fee: MentorPlay charges a 20% platform fee on all bookings
• Payment Processing: All payments are processed securely through Stripe
• Refunds: Cancellations made 24+ hours in advance receive full refunds
• No-Shows: Mentors are paid for sessions when learners don't attend
• Disputes: Payment disputes must be submitted within 7 days

7. Code of Conduct

Users must not:

• Engage in harassment, bullying, or inappropriate behavior
• Share personal contact information outside the app
• Attempt to circumvent the platform for payment
• Post offensive, harmful, or illegal content
• Impersonate others or provide false information
• Use the service for any unlawful purpose

8. Content and Intellectual Property

User Content: You retain ownership of content you create (mood entries, messages, etc.). By using the Service, you grant us a license to use, display, and process this content to provide our services.

AI-Generated Content: Articles and recommendations generated by our AI become part of the Service and may be shared with other users.

MentorPlay IP: All app code, design, branding, and proprietary features are owned by MentorPlay.

9. Session Conduct

During mentor sessions:

• Sessions must be conducted via the app's approved video platform
• All sessions should focus on sports training and mentorship
• Inappropriate behavior will result in immediate account termination
• Sessions may be monitored or recorded for safety purposes

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that:

• Violate these Terms of Service
• Engage in fraudulent or harmful behavior
• Compromise the safety of other users
• Remain inactive for extended periods

You may delete your account at any time through the app settings.

11. Disclaimers

MentorPlay is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee:

• Specific outcomes from mentor sessions
• Uninterrupted or error-free service
• The quality or behavior of mentors or learners
• Achievement of athletic goals

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MentorPlay shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of the Service.

13. Safety and Reporting

If you experience or witness inappropriate behavior:

• Report it immediately through the app's reporting feature
• Contact support@mentorplay.app for urgent safety concerns
• In emergencies, contact local authorities first

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. We will notify users of significant changes via email or in-app notification.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of [Your State/Country], without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
