Guardian Protection & Control
For Users Under 13:
- Guardian-Managed Profiles: Parents create and control all learner profiles
- Session Approval Required: All bookings must be approved by guardians before confirmation
- Profile Access Control: Optional 4-digit PIN protection for each learner profile
- Full Visibility: Guardians can view all sessions, messages, and activity
- Instant Cancellation: Guardians can cancel any session at any time
For Users 13-17:
- Optional guardian oversight and session approval
- Guardians can link to learner accounts using invite codes
- Independent account management with guardian visibility
Mentor Verification
Every mentor on MentorPlay goes through a rigorous verification process:
- D1 College Verification: Mentors must verify enrollment with collegiate email (.edu domain)
- Background Checks: All mentors complete comprehensive background screening
- Identity Verification: Government-issued ID verification required
- Athletic Credentials: Verification of collegiate athletic participation
- Ongoing Monitoring: Continuous review of mentor accounts and session conduct
- Code of Conduct: All mentors must agree to our strict code of conduct
Session Safety Features
- Approved Video Platform: All sessions conducted through secure, monitored video platform
- No Off-Platform Contact: Direct contact information is never shared
- Session Recording: Sessions may be monitored or recorded for safety purposes
- In-Session Reporting: Easy-access reporting tools during live sessions
- Age-Appropriate Matching: Smart matching ensures appropriate mentor-learner pairings
