What is MentorPlay?
MentorPlay is a mentorship platform connecting young soccer players with current D1 college athletes. We provide personalized training, emotional support, and guidance to help youth athletes develop both on and off the field.
Who can use MentorPlay?
- Young Athletes: Soccer players of all ages and skill levels
- Guardians: Parents managing profiles for athletes under 13
- Mentors: Current D1 college soccer players (18+)
When will MentorPlay launch?
We're planning to launch in 2026. Join our waitlist to be among the first to access the platform and receive exclusive early member benefits!
How do I sign up?
Currently, we're building our waitlist. Enter your email on our homepage to reserve your spot. When we launch, you'll receive an invitation to create your account and get started.
For Learners & Guardians
How does guardian approval work?
For athletes under 13, guardians create and manage all learner profiles. Every session booking requires guardian approval before it's confirmed. Guardians have full visibility into all sessions, messages, and activity on the platform.
What happens during a mentor session?
Sessions are 1-on-1 video calls where mentors provide:
- Position-specific training drills and techniques
- Mental game coaching and confidence building
- College recruiting advice and guidance
- Personalized feedback on your game
- Emotional support and motivation
How long are sessions?
Sessions typically range from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the mentor's availability and your training goals. You can book the duration that works best for you.
Can I choose my mentor?
Yes! Browse our mentor directory to find D1 athletes who played your position. Our AI also provides personalized mentor recommendations based on your profile, goals, and position.
What if I need to cancel a session?
Cancellations made 24+ hours before the session receive a full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours may be subject to fees. Guardians can cancel any session at any time through their dashboard.
Is my information safe?
Absolutely. We're COPPA compliant and use industry-standard encryption for all data. Personal contact information is never shared, and all communications happen securely within the app. See our

For Mentors
How do I become a mentor?
To become a mentor, you must:
- Be 18 years or older
- Currently enrolled in a D1 collegiate soccer program
- Verify your status with a collegiate email (.edu)
- Complete background check and identity verification
- Agree to our Code of Conduct
How much do mentors earn?
Mentors set their own hourly rates (typically $20-$100/hour). MentorPlay takes a 20% platform fee, and mentors receive 80% of the booking amount. Payments are processed securely through Stripe.
When do mentors get paid?
Mentors are paid after each completed session. Funds are typically available within 2-3 business days via direct deposit to your connected bank account.
Can mentors work with multiple learners?
Yes! Mentors can work with as many learners as their schedule allows. You control your availability and can manage all bookings through your mentor dashboard.
Does this violate NCAA rules?
Recent NCAA rule changes allow college athletes to earn compensation for their name, image, and likeness (NIL). MentorPlay complies with all current NCAA regulations. However, we recommend consulting with your athletic department's compliance office before getting started.
Pricing & Payments
How much does MentorPlay cost?
Session prices vary by mentor and typically range from $20-$100 per hour. There's no subscription fee—you only pay for the sessions you book. The platform fee (20%) is included in the displayed price.
What payment methods are accepted?
We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, and digital wallets through our secure payment processor, Stripe. All transactions are encrypted and PCI-compliant.
Are there any hidden fees?
No hidden fees! The price you see when booking includes everything. The only additional charge would be for late cancellations (within 24 hours of the session).
Can I get a refund?
Yes. Cancellations made 24+ hours before the session receive a full refund. If a mentor cancels, you always receive a full refund. For technical issues preventing a session, contact support@mentorplay.app for a refund.
Features & Platform
What is the Mood Check-In feature?
Mood Check-In helps learners track their emotional well-being and confidence over time. Log daily mood scores, add reflections, and view trends through calendar heatmaps. This helps mentors understand where you need mental game support.
How does AI personalization work?
Our AI analyzes your profile, position, skill level, and goals to generate:
- Personalized training drill recommendations
- Custom articles and educational content
- Mentor matching suggestions
- Progress insights and development tips
Can I message my mentor between sessions?
Yes! MentorPlay includes a secure messaging system for communication between sessions. All messages are monitored for safety and remain on the platform—no off-platform contact is permitted.
What devices can I use?
MentorPlay is available on iOS (iPhone and iPad) with iOS 17.0 or later. An Android version is planned for future release. Sessions can be joined from any device with the app installed.
What if I have technical issues?
Our support team is available 24/7 to help with technical issues. Contact support@mentorplay.app or use the in-app help feature. For session disruptions, we'll work with you and your mentor to reschedule or provide a refund.
Safety & Privacy
How are mentors verified?
All mentors complete:
- D1 collegiate email verification (.edu domain)
- Government-issued ID verification
- Comprehensive background checks
- Athletic credential verification
- Code of Conduct agreement
Are sessions monitored?
Sessions may be monitored or recorded for safety and quality purposes. All sessions are conducted on our secure platform, and we have reporting tools available if any concerns arise.
How do I report inappropriate behavior?
Use the report button in any session or message, email support@mentorplay.app, or contact us through the guardian dashboard. All reports are reviewed within 24 hours. For emergencies, contact local authorities first.
What data does MentorPlay collect?
We collect only the information necessary to provide our services: profile information, session history, mood entries, and payment data. We never sell your data. See our

Account Management
How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account at any time through Settings > Account > Delete Account. All personal data will be removed within 30 days, except where required for legal compliance.
Can guardians manage multiple learner profiles?
Yes! Guardians can create and manage profiles for multiple young athletes under a single account. Switch between profiles using our Netflix-style profile selector.
What is PIN protection?
PIN protection allows guardians to set a 4-digit PIN for each learner profile. This ensures that only authorized users can access that profile on the device, adding an extra layer of security.
